Concrete Floor Coating
Before concrete floor coating you must surely go through some other essential procedures in order to make your coatings more effective and long lasting. Before coating, concrete flooring you must try to remove the adhesive as much as possible. You may do so by just scrapping it off or by the use of a solvent such as mineral spirit. However, if the above two procedures fail to show any result then you are also free to use a lacquer thinner. Then the floors need to be thoroughly washed and cleaned with detergent cleaner and clear fresh water. The coatings can only be applied when the floor is dry.
While using a thinner in order to remove the mastic from the floors you have to be very careful. Otherwise, accidents may occur at any point of time. Thus, before applying the coatings on your concrete floors you must have a thorough look at the safety instructions regarding paints and solvents.
There are various concrete floors in many warehouses, manufacturing facilities and retail centres, which require proper concrete floor coatings. Concrete floors, which have been newly structured along with the old ones, require effective coatings to maintain their freshness and firmness. However, it is not necessary that in all cases the prior painting have to be removed before the application of the new one. A proper assessment or judgment is required in order to understand whether the floor is capable of holding a new coating or not.
In the case of new concrete floors as well as old uncoated floors you must have a check whether the floor has a percentage of moisture content or not. If the presence of moisture in the concrete floor is detected in any way then it should be determined and eliminated at the first instance for a proper and stable floor coating of the concrete floors.
