Kitchen Flooring
The kitchen is a high-traffic, high-spill zone of a house, hence kitchen flooring always requires contemplation and consultation.
Tile Flooring – Various types of tiles, namely, ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles are used for tiled kitchen flooring. They look exceptionally good and do not need heavy maintenance. Suitable for radiant heat, kitchen tiles are durable. Though glazed tiles look great, their surfaces are slippery and pose threat to your safety. Unglazed tiles are a better option.
Vinyl Flooring –It is the most common kitchen flooring material. Available in sheet and tile form, the vinyl floorings are of two types – the inlaid vinyl and the standard vinyl. They make for attractive, elegant floors that do not need much of maintenance. However, it will be better for you to remember that the vinyl floorings are stain-resistant and not stain-proof.
Laminate flooring – These natural element (like wood and stone) simulated flooring materials are similar to vinyl floorings. Since they have a plastic base, cleaning laminate floors is not a tedious chore. As such, a reasonably cheap way of flooring, a laminate floor needs replacement after prolonged periods. However, once it wears out, the entire floor needs to be replaced.
Stone flooring – A typical old-fashioned kitchen floor is a stone floor. Most commonly used stones are granite, marble and slate floorings. Good for radiant heat, tough and durable, the stone floors need to be looked after. The biggest risk with stone floors is that the stones (especially the ones used in kitchen and bathroom floors) tend to become slippery and can be the cause of accidents.
Linoleum flooring – It is a very old fashion of flooring kitchens, which is making a comeback. Rather plain looking, Linoleum is an environmentally friendly material and withstands abuses as common in kitchens. Standing water, however, can damage it.
