Costs Of Carpeting
Carpets have been the flooring choice of millions for centuries and the costs of carpeting has been a topic of conjecture for nearly the entire period. Carpeting costs depend on factors as varied as the dimensions of the area to be carpeted to the fiber used, the color chosen to the thickness or density of the carpet, price of the padding to the weave of the carpet backing, and a host of other factors.
Costs of carpeting depend on the price per sq.ft. of the chosen carpet type or variety, multiplied by the total surface area to be carpeted. Hence, the dimensions should be measured very cautiously. It is better to appoint professionals for this job.
The costs of carpeting for a stairway can never be compared with the cost incurred for carpeting a regular floor surface. In fact, different types of staircase carpets have vastly different prices – the runner-style carpet running through the middle of the staircase costs more than the one covering the entire flight of stairs. Carpeting twisted stairways will leave you dearer by some extra dollars.
As regards costs of carpets, there are a great many things that need to be considered before arriving at any decision. The choice of material (fiber) is very vital – natural fibers cost you more than synthetic fibers. Quality too is a price-determining feature of carpets. Face-weight, density and twist level all combine to decide the quality. Higher face-weight, higher density and tighter twists of fibers go on to make a carpet long lasting and pricey. As regards colors, the options are aplenty for the expensive, upgrade carpets. The backing also determines the prices of carpets – the low-priced ones have big squares on the back while the slightly better ones have tighter squares and the highest quality carpets have woven back up.
Carpeting is incomplete without padding - good padding gives carpeted areas a cushiony-feel and lengthens a carpet’s life. Hence, the cost of padding is also a part of the total carpeting expenses.
