Coin Textured Rubber Flooring – An Useful Development
Flooring of synthetic rubber with anti-skid features is also called coin textured rubber flooring. It was originally developed for
industrial and commercial applications but has been found useful for homes
and other commercial areas. Synthetic rubber flooring is hardwearing,
resilient, quiet, warm, comfortable for walking on and easy to clean – but
it is not so cheap (For cheaper flooring look here).
Textured rubber comes both as sheets and as tiles and many of these are
provided with non-skid rubber backing. Most textured rubber floors are
chemical and weather resistant and have anti-static and non-conducting
properties. They are designed for easy removal of sand, soil, salt, snow and
many more
Textured rubber is easy to cut and lay, even in awkward positions. Some
rubber floors come with interlocking edges, borders and corners. While other
textured rubber floors are provided with contact adhesive and are to be
fixed with floor adhesive. Common thicknesses range from 3/8” to 5/8”.
Flooring of synthetic rubber is in wide use outside entrances to buildings,
inside stores, offices, schools, industrial buildings, health clubs and
gyms, locker rooms, ice arenas, exercise and play areas and in garages and
other heavy traffic areas in the house. Cleaning of textured rubber is
usually done by sweeping, shaking and hosing.
Some rubber floors are bacteria resistant and non-marking type. Heavy duty
textured and ribbed rubber floors for gym use absorb much of the prevailing
shock and noise. They are highly durable and are resistant to spikes and
blades. These textured rubber floors do not split, tear, wrinkle or crack
and require very little maintenance.
Depending on the quality required, textured rubber floors might be molded
either from high-grade premium rubber or from recycled rubber. Flooring of
synthetic rubber comes in many colors, popular ones being Midnight Black,
Forest Green, New Sandstone, Slate Grey, Racing Blue and Brick red.
