Laminate Floor Care – Keeping your floor looking great!
Ease of maintenance has “always” been the Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
of laminated flooring. The durable aluminum oxide layer combined with the
composition and assembly of the product makes this type of flooring a
hassle-free option. Laminate floor care requires the minimum of effort with
maximum results.
Daily cleaning of laminates calls for vacuuming, sweeping and dust mopping.
Although various nonspecific cleaning solutions are also available to
cleanse laminate floors, most major laminate flooring manufacturers, provide
their own cleaning care kits with instructions for maintenance and care.
Largely, laminates are resistant to stains, dents, burns and scratches. No
matter how much care you take, your flooring may end up with a nick or
indentation that will merit repair. Major laminated flooring manufacturers
provide “touch up" or repair kits, which take care of small scratches and
dents. Complete with acrylic or latex putty, wax pencils or crayons, these
kits are a very cost-effective way of repairing your flooring
Here are checklists that would ensure your laminate floors lasts for
lifetime.
- Mopping with soap water can damage your laminate floors, as puddles could
seep behind baseboards and under your floor.
- Floor protectors of felt or easy glide buttons under chairs and other
furniture on the flooring will ensure that your laminated flooring is not
scratched.
- Do not apply wax or acrylic floor finishes.
- Use the stain-removal products and suggestions recommended by the flooring
manufacturer in the product literature.
- Doormats at doorways that lead to the outdoors or garage help to trap grit
and gravel that could gradually cause light scratching on the surface of the
laminate floor.
- Take care to protect the floor when working with sharp, heavy objects to
prevent scratching or denting of the surface.
- It is imperative to follow the specific maintenance schedule of the
product you purchase.
